Who scored the first English Premier League Goal?

The English Premier League is a football competition hosted in England for all English football teams. A lot more than twenty-five thousand (25,000) goals have been scored in the English Premier League.

However, the first goal to be scored in the English Premier League was by Brian Deane for Sheffield United, in a match against Manchester United.

The Game

Within five minutes of play at Bramall Lane, a long throw-in from the field’s right side was given an over-head flick by Peter Schmeichel. Brian Deane was available to intercept the ball and then plant a free header into the opposition’s empty net from within the six-yard box. Sheffield United played at home during that match, and Deane had the privilege of adding a second goal, which he converted from a penalty kick before the closure of the first half.

However, the lead was almost cut short when Mark Hughes of Manchester United scored an unexpected goal. Still, the leading team -Sheffield United, held unto their lead to gain an added advantage over the eventual league champions. At the end of the league, Sheffield United finished at the 14th position; they even got to the semi-finals that season.
